How often should I do yoga?

Because most types of yoga are low-impact exercises, it is fine to perform it 5-6 times a week. Many people find doing yoga often to be helpful because it helps set a routine for their day. A lot of those who do yoga practice it in the early morning to prepare them for the day. It is advised that those who do yoga should make a schedule and stick with it. Because the whole purpose of yoga is to help the yoga practitioner find balance in his or her life, having a set schedule definitely helps in this process. A sporadic yoga schedule makes it much more difficult to find the balance you seek.

Is yoga expensive?

Yoga can be expensive, but it certainly does not need to be expensive. It is a fact that yoga can be performed with absolutely no equipment or gear at all. Some of the equipment that is available, however, is nice and makes performing yoga easier. For example, you do not absolutely need a yoga mat to perform yoga, but having one will make your yoga experience more comfortable. Likewise, yoga balls, blocks, DVDs and books can all also be helpful as well. However, the truth is that if all you have is a quiet place and a desire to relax, you have everything that you absolutely need.

How can I learn how to do yoga?

Yoga is pretty much learned the same way that most things are learned. Observation and practice are vital aspects of yoga. If you are able to observe somebody who does yoga well, you can learn from their example and become better yourself. Of course, you will only become better if you practice sufficiently. Some people prefer to observe a live teacher who can slow down and pay special attention to their needs. Others prefer to watch DVDs or read books to learn yoga techniques. Different kinds of people learn in different ways. It is important that you understand how you best learn so that you can focus your energies into learning the way that is most effective for you.
